A Sound Story

I am a freelance sound engineer and musician in Pōkuru, Waikato, Aotearoa, New Zealand.

I began my journey in sound and music at just 18 months old, picking out tunes on the piano while still in nappies. Throughout school, I immersed myself in every musical activity I could find. Everything changed in 1996 when my parents purchased a Technics keyboard with a 16-track MIDI sequencer and recorder. I spent countless hours composing original songs and recreating favorites by artists like The Commitments and Michael Jackson.

After finishing school in 2000, I followed the creative fire in my heart and studied music production at WINTEC in Hamilton. I graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Media Arts, majoring in Music Production with Honours.

Shortly after, I packed up my van and moved to Wellington. Through a mix of persistence, passion, and a bit of luck, I broke into the world of film sound. From 2005 to 2015, I contributed to major feature films such as District 9, The Lovely Bones, The Adventures of Tintin, and Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy.

Eventually, tired of the relentless Wellington weather, I relocated north to my hometown of Te Awamutu. Today, my studio is tucked away in the lush meadows of Pōkuru — a peaceful slice of rural paradise perfect for creativity and focus.

With over 20 years of experience in the creative industry, I’ve worked across Film, TV, Radio, Podcasting, Music, and Theatre. My roles have included Sound Designer, Sound Mixer, Dialogue Editor, Sound Effects Editor, Session Musician, Music Producer, Composer, and Podcast Producer. My sound and music production work is recognised and sought after both locally and internationally.

If you’re looking to elevate your project with professional audio production — whether it’s for film, music, podcasts, or anything in between — you’ve found someone who can deliver exceptional quality, on time and on budget.
